This blog is part of my 38 before 38 series. I write a blog for every single day for the 38 days leading up to my 38th Birthday.
I had an other busy day. So I will be sharing some interesting videos and my notes on them.
How Airlines Became Banks
Eventually, All business become banks.
In this video, Wendover Productions shows how Airlines became banks. Namely by creating their own currency in the form loyalty points/miles. Learning Styles Do not Exist
Some folk tales become entrenched in industries and institutions. They take on the appearance of science. Mostly due to the Status Quo Bias in , but also Confirmation bias on part of the subjects. “Learning Styles” is one such idea. There is no data to suggest that individuals have specific paradigms for acquiring knowledge. Every test suggests that no individual has one set way of learning they excel at.
Tail as old as Time
I wish there was a way to explain in a simpler manner. But if you are interested in statistics, this is the video for you,
Fat-Tailed, Non-Gaussian distribution can’t be correlated to Gaussian(Normal) distribution. The author presents the example of IQ vs Income. IQ is fairly Gaussian normal distribution. No matter how many standard-deviations(σ) further from the center you go, has no effect on the population.
Whereas income is fat-tailed and can’t be correlated with IQ. Income, the population is skewed by a few straggling mega-earners.
Please God Forgive Him
Bo Burnham is an artist. But also he got famous at a very early age. Like many that made it big on Youtube. Which is when he wrote his song. “Writing about music, is like dancing about architecture.”, said Elvis Costello. So I would like you to listen to it for yourself.
